Indian Head Massage
Intermediate Level Workshop

With Katyayani and Sharon Bull

Course Overview

The head, neck and shoulders are important energy centres within your body. Think for a moment, when you are stressed or angry or tired even, where does the tension tend to accumulate? For many people, the upper part of the body is also particularly vulnerable to postural problems as a result of sitting at desks, behind steering wheels and so on. Indian Head Massage (IHM) involves working over these areas with both firm and gentle rhythms to help clear physical and emotional blockages. This, in turn, helps to relieve muscular discomfort and tension as well as calming the spirit and aiding deep relaxation. This wonderful therapy releases stagnant energy, thereby allowing the body to work in a far more harmonius and balanced fashion.

This workshop is a very ‘hands-on’ weekend that is structured to give students ample time to integrate a wide variety of different techniques and strokes. The course covers the head, face, shoulders, upper back, arms and hands and will incorporate western massage techniques together with a more eastern approach; in particular we will look at how to work with and balance the Chakras in the upper part of the body.
